Title: The Gun Insanity in the land of the free.

As I sit here pondering, mentally occupied by the waning effects of the last mass shooting, I wonder when will be the next. I sit here thinking of the upheaval after that incident which left seventeen children dead and watched it fade away into history as the protesters return to their daily activities. I think the NRA has won the battle as the outcry over the deaths of seventeen students has diminished to a murmur. Angry citizens are now transfixed on meeting the necessities of their daily lives as the NRA bolster it support in Congress for the gun rights of insane people. However, it will soon happen again for its regularity has become a monthly event.

Yes, it is becoming an accepted way of life in America to be killed by an irrational gunman in a mass shooting. It happens weekly, most are not publicized.  But soon it will become marketable. They will advertise it. It will be televised. The gun manufacturers will toot the weapons of the mass killer especially if it’s their brand.  They will speak of its accuracy and the technology used in making this an efficient weapon of choice of the mass killers. The NRA will sell advertisement spot to companies who supports gun rights. They will call the show ‘The NRA Sponsored Carnages’.

The NRA believes irrational, mentally disturb people have the right to have guns. The NRA and gun manufacturers have made it so, our constitution guarantees it.  We have spent years debating this issue. Presidents have come and gone while we continue to debate the need to change the laws. In the meantime, these senseless carnages continue as we Americans refuse to part with our guns. As the killings increases in regularity and the numbers killed soars to new heights our elected officials staunchly stand in the way, preventing any actions being taken as they accept millions of dollars from the NRA and gun manufacturers.   They make sure nothing is done to affect the gun sales in the USA. How greed and insanity has taken hold of this nation.

While mothers who have lost their children march and protest with tears streaming from their eyes down their checks, many irrational gun men stock up on arms. While the NRA pays its army of Lobbyist to see that the laws do not change, irrational gun men prepare for the next carnage. As the last mass killing fades from memory, gun men prepare for their future moment of glory. While sane people fight to change the laws, irrational gun men prepare to set new records of how many men, women and children they can massacre in the schools, churches, workplaces, homes and streets of America. The more they kill the greater their fame.  The more they kill the more they are glorified in the media. For weeks they will be the headlines. For weeks they will be talked about as the love ones of the victims grieve. How great would it be if the media refuse to publicize such events? But no, they are driven by ratings. So, they choose to support and glorify the mass killer and his carnage by giving an abundance of attention to his carnage. Greed, is it really good?

When will it stop you muse, I see it stopping when it’s the gun manufacturers and NRA members becoming victims of gun violence. It will stop when it is the members of Congress who support the NRA being the victims of gun violence. I see it stopping when those who manufacture and profit from guns have a vested interest to see it stop. At the moment they are making so much money from the sales of guns they have no incentive to stop manufacturing guns or seeing to the creation of sane laws that would prohibit irrational people having guns. It is not an issue with the wealthy for it’s not them being killed in masses. They don’t care about you, they have no affiliation to your community, they do not care about your pain and suffering if you are your family is killed by a weapon they made. They have created and pass laws divesting themselves of any accountability in the usage of their Brand weapons.  They have no social concerns about the carnages resulting from the guns they manufacture. I hope someday soon we will discover that we can change this scenario by not supporting the gun manufacturers and NRA by spending our money on something else than a firearm. But being honest, I don’t see it happening because it’s us common folks who keep spouting of our rights to bear arms. There is a need to change our rational or irrational thinking.

If not, let’s start capitalizing on these carnages, it’s the American way. The almighty dollar must prevail. I am sure the NRA will sponsor it. They will make it legal, they already own Congress and I am sure Fox news will be ready to sell spots and televise it. It will be our version of the gladiators of the Roman Coliseum. It already exists, if we can’t stop it why not go all the way with it? Let’s package it and sell it. It all ends with our elected leaders praying for the victims as they usually do and nothing else. It’s the beautiful American way.
